Having frequented Tatonka... read moreWe are so terribly sad to hear the devastating news that Harold from Tatonka passed away a month ago in a tragic accident. Having frequented Tatonka for many years we were devastated to hear this news on arrival at the restaurant. We were so sad not to see him wave from behind the kitchen counter and give us a warm embrace as he always did, so upsetting. We felt we must write this review though and report back that his wonderful team are continuing his great work and delivering execution of dishes as he did with care and precision, which he would be so proud of and I’m sure he’s looking down smiling. If you are in Phuket and looking for a fantastic dining venue then please give the restaurant a try, and if you are a regular then please don’t hesitate to return as Yen his loving wife needs all the back up she can get right now, and the wonderful team want to keep the restaurant operating as it was before in his memory. Fabulous food, great atmosphere, superb service and attention to detail that’s what you get at Tatonka and we are pleased to say it’s still delivering all of these things and more. RIP Harold and let your memory live on with your legacy, you will not be forgotten.❤️ read less

As such, we have been revisiting a number of our favourite restaurants and last night had a most enjoyable evening at Tatonka which has been successfully operating at the same premises in Cherngtalay for over 20 years. Our friend had booked a nice table at the rear of the property and we were warmly greeted on arrival. We proceeded to order a selection of a dozen or so Of the delicious Tapas starters and I thoroughly enjoyed my Cajun Pork (cooked to perfection) mains. All in all,ma great return visit - one that I’m confident we will repeat before returning to London at the end of the month! read less

About 10 of us. Personally I really enjoyed it and so did the rest of the table. We tried a lot of different things from the menu. All of the creations were creative and interesting. For the most part everything was delicious. There were a couple that came out looking great but lacking flavour (duck rolls and tuna taco) however they were by no means bad and the place was very very busy. Lots of us thought the simple red curry cauliflower on rice bite was the best. Some commented that the pizza was the best they have had. Being a chef myself I appreciated how perfectly the duck breast was cooked. The place was full up so booking is essential I imagine. Atmosphere good. Chairs very comfortable. Menu reasonably priced. Staff were attentive to what was going on. I also thought the theme was interesting. Ummm that's about it. I hope to visit again read less

We shared four dishes all of which were lovely. The baby squid was so tender. The Saigon beef was a taste sensation. The tomato Tatin wonderful. The fillet steak was to die for. Perfect from the kitchen to service, this is the best place we have been to in years. Not expensive and all 5 stars. Don't expect to get a table without a reservation. As a professionally trained chef, having worked for many international hotel chains and with 30+ years as hotel school teacher, I am extremely impressed by this place. Harold's wife and the very nice staff rounded of this wonderful experience. So we went again and tried 8 of the 12 tapas yesterday. Wow! And when the bill came, we were surprised how inexpensive excellent food and service can be. I think they could increase prices a bit. read less
